Ritual Chocolate & Coffee Bar in Whole Foods

We are lucky to live in Utah, where we are just a short drive from a handful of chocolate factories and cafes. That includes Ritual Chocolate, which recently opened a chocolate and coffee bar at Whole Foods in Park City, and we visited for the first time.

The original Ritual cafe and factory is a stone's throw from the new location and offers the same menu but with the added experience of watching chocolate being made as you dine.

The setting within Whole Foods makes a statement to the world that bean-to-bar chocolate deserves to have its place, just like coffee does. I have no doubt that chocolate cafes will soon be breaking ground all over the country, making brewed cocoa, sipping chocolate, and chocolate lattes a regular part of morning routines.

For the new opening, Ritual Chocolate added truffles made by chocolatier Marcie Blackburn to its menu. You can choose from a list of rolled or molded truffles like Campfire Maple, made with maple and High West Campfire Bourbon, or the London Fog, which is a Mexico 75% with Earl Grey tea and vanilla syrup.

With the help of a fantastic barista named Patrick, we enjoyed delicious Madagascar sipping chocolate, compared single-origin hot chocolate with friends, and sampled a few of the new truffles. At this point, we were so overloaded with chocolatey goodness, we opted not to try the vegan and gluten-free baked goods, although we are sure we would have loved them. This gives us a great excuse to visit again soon!
