Map Meteor Shower 65%

Map's Meteor Shower chocolate bar is a dark milk sprinkled with toasted black sesame seeds and black lava salt. The cacao used for this bar comes from the Honduras La Mosquitia fermentary, a very remote location where the beans are brought in by farmers via canoe. This is the first time I have heard of or tried chocolate from La Mosquitia, so I am quite eager.

Wrapped in beautiful, vintage space-like paper showcasing the moon and the sun, inside you will discover descriptive poetry written by chocolate maker, Mackenzie Rivers. "Meteors might be the best reminder that all that glitters is not gold. The truth is that they are in fact, just space dust."

The savory black sesame seeds are so peculiar, yet so perfect. The chocolate is exceptionally creamy and tastes almost pudding-like.  The pinch of black lava salt is just the right amount and there is a hint of smoke coming from the savory inclusions. I don't find forward tasting notes in the actual chocolate base itself, but the milk to cacao ratio is spot on and I am happy to report that I can't discern any milk powder flavor. The cacao chosen for this bar complements the tasty bits that have been added without overpowering them.

Map Chocolate is quickly rising to the top of my favorites list.
